Plot Summary of Night Play
"Bride's boyfriend has just broken up with her, and her self-esteem is at an all-time low. Her boyfriend was always urging her to lose weight, and she's never been confident about her looks. Then Vane walks into her life. He actually pursues her and is interested in her in a way no other man ever has been. He's rich, he's gorgeous, and he's sweet. There's a lot of things he's not telling her, however. For one thing, he can change into a wolf. For another, because Bride is his mate, Vane's enemies, who are also his former pack members, will try to kill her. While he protects Bride, Vane has to convince her to love and trust all of him, both his wolf and human sides. If he doesn't, he will forever be alone. "
Melissa Cookson, Resident Scholar

"Bride McTierney is in a mood to hate all men because she just received a letter from her boyfriend ditching her for being too fat. To make things worse, the letter was charged to her account. Moments later, when a gorgeous man named Vane comes into her jewelry shop and buys a necklace, she starts crying. Trying to comfort her, they end up having an incredible bout of sex.

Vane leaves Bride's store despite his attraction to her and the unbelievable sex. Vane is a were-hunter, wolves who can turn into humans, and he and his brother are under a death sentence from their own father. He also hunts vampires and his people are at war with another race of shapeshifters. In addition, Vane's brother is in a coma and there is nothing Vane can do to heal him. All in all, starting a relationship, especially with a human, seems like a bad idea.

But then Vane sees the mating mark on his hand. It means that Bride is his true mate and unless he gets her to voluntarily mate with him within three weeks, he will end up a eunuch. But Bride's self confidence is at an all time low so she cannot believe a sexy handsome man is sincerely interested in her. Vane needs to woo her quickly while protecting her from his enemies. When he visits her in his wolf form, she seems to like the stray dog and lets him hang around her home. He starts dating her in his human form. Bride begins to wonder if there is something going on between the dog and Vane."
