| Plot Summary of Captain Bligh: The Man and His Mutinies |
"William Bligh, the captain of the Bounty, was born in 1754. At 17, he became a midshipman on the Crescent. At 21, he joined Captain Cook's third expedition and was present when Cook was murdered in Hawaii. At 23, he was given the command of the Bounty and a mission to bring back breadfruit trees for cultivation. It was on this trip that the famous mutiny took place. Bligh and some of his loyal crew were set adrift in a small boat, and he became famous for getting them to safety. After his return to England Bligh was given new ships to command and in the end offered a post in New South Wales."
