| Plot Summary of Magic Fire |
"Mark Charm is a high school senior who has a crush on a beautiful and talented schoolmate, Jessa Wellings. One night, after seeing her star in a performance of her play, Mark meets Jessa in her dressing room to make his feelings known to her. To his delight, she goes out with him, but he soon finds that there is something peculiar about Jessa. She insists that he take a special drug called MAZE with her - a drug that supposedly makes them "see reality".
After his mother's death from cancer, Mark, being a pyromaniac, feels the need to burn something to release his frustration. He decides to set the whole town to fire, and succeeds, but ends up getting himself and Jessa trapped in the heat. They are rescued by a strange man, Mr. Grimes, who claims that Mark has the ability to start fires with his mind, and wants him to use this ability to save humanity from an alien race. Mark soon learns that Jessa's love for him has been tainted with conspiracy all along, and that humanity has already been taken over by the aliens. As he battles to save humanity, he unravels Jessa's true motivations, becomes trapped in a web of illusions, and ultimately learns the true meaning of MAZE. "
