"This second StarDoc novel takes place primarily on the Jorenian ship the Sunlace after it rescues Cherijo. On the Sunlace she becomes Senior Healer, solves a mystery of who has been murdering Jorenians and tries unsuccessfully to not become entangled with Xonea, Kai's (her beau from StarDoc) brother. Then she is betrayed to her father by her best friend the pilot Dhreen and to the Hsktskt by Duncan, whom she loved, at least sometimes."
