Plot Summary of The Lost Heart of Asia
"The true story of Colin Thubron's journey through the former USSR Central Asian states (Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan) in the early 1990's. Thubron interviewed people about the what it was like to live in these countries, before and after independence, and visited famous historical places (Bukara, Samarkand). Full of descriptions of people and places, history and and speculation about the future of these countries. "
