| Plot Summary of The Lost Continent |
"In The Lost Continent: Travels In Small Town America, Bill Bryson is back at it with more travel stories. Beginning in Nebraska he travels east crossing the Mississippi and eventually north through New England to the Great Lakes. He returns to Iowa to drop off his mothers car but strikes out on the road several months later and goes north and west before turning south through Arizona and New Mexico and winding up back at his mother home.
Carefully avoiding big cities and fancy hotels, he is out to rediscover the country of his birth he has left behind during his twenty years of residence in Europe. In the small towns and roadside attractions, he finds that some places were alot more interesting when seen through the eyes of a child. The new places he visits are sometimes quirky or offbeat but Mr. Bryson's witty style always allows the humorous side of his subject to show through."
