| Plot Summary of Reflections |
"This book is one of the early Nora Roberts' books and has characters from her other two novels "Considering Kate" and "Dance of Dreams"
Lindsay Dunne is a renowned ballet dancer who left the glittering world of show biz to nurse her mother who was widowed in the car accident that left her nearly crippled. It is three years since she has left the high pressure world of ballet and she is content to see to her mother's comfort and teach dance in her birthtown of Cliffside in New England. Her mother wants her to return to ballet but she is not sure if she can or if she wants to. She is more interested in dancing than in performing.
She meets Ruth Bannion, a seventeen year old who has been orphaned by an accident, whose passion for dance and natural talent make her Lindsay's protege. Ruth is awed by Lindsay and she want to be a part of the high pressure world of professional ballet dancing. Lindsay feels that Ruth should be in New York getting the proper training that a dancer of her caliber should get to attain her dream of achieving her goal of "prima ballerina".
In this she crosses swords with Ruth's guardian and uncle the famous architect Seth Bannion who has taken Ruth into his life and made several changes to accommodate the teenager in his life and to let her heal. He does not want Ruth to enter the ruthless world of ballet dancing and feels she is too young and unsettled as yet for that kind of pressure. Sparks fly and soon both Lindsay and Seth are irresistably drawn together and slowly, inexorably both of them fall in love with each other. A snow bound weekend on the hill top house belonging to Seth takes matters in the right direction.
But Lindsay also does her best to champion the cause of Ruth and this causes a rift between both the lovers and the situation is further complicated when Nikolai Davidov, the reigning supremo in the world of ballet and Lindsay's previous dancing partner wants her to return to the professional arena as his partner for the first ballet which he has written.
A lot of misunderstandings ensue where Lindsay has to make her choice clear to Seth and Seth has to overcome his own insecurities to grasp the life that both of them can share. We also witness the first meeting of Ruth and Davidov where after seeing Ruth's talen Nikolai Davidov takes her under his wings. Their story follows in "Dance of Dreams""
