|Plot Summary of Twentieth Century|
Considered one of the first screwball comedies, the film concerns Broadway director Oscar Jaffe, who's incredible drive to succeed makes him stop at nothing to be successful. When his biggest star, Lily Garland, is called away to Hollywood, his career flops. He happens to meet his former leading lady on a train, the Twentieth Century Limited, and puts on act after act to get her to come back to the stage. Resorting to blows and a fake death scene to gain sympathy, insanity abounds until the very end.
