| Plot Summary of Coastliners |
"Mado, a young French painter, returns to her island home of Le Devin after her mother's death in Paris. What she returns to is a home and town that is falling apart, and a father who seems to be beyond her reach, never uttering a word. Her home, Les Salants, is falling into the sea, while the town's rival, La Houssiniere, is prospering. While trying to regain her father's love, Mado also tries to save her village, discovering things about herself that change her life forever."

"Mado returns to the island of her birth and finds not much has changed. The islanders are still subborn, superstitious and argue amoungest themselves, the fishing has its days and the past has a firm hold on the present. Mado's father is still a silent grieving figure 30 years after the death of his beloved brother on which he blames himself.
But one thing which has changed is the tides. Thanks to a harbour wall built on the opposite side of the island and they now threaten to flood the small town. Mado refuses to sit and watch the islander destroy themselves, if they only worked together. Flynn the red headed Englishman divises a plan to save the town, they build a wall of themselves. No easy task. Old rivalries forgotton the islanders work together for the first time in generations.
If the tides can be changed it will make a beach, which will steal the tourists, who bring money. With money and a future the older islanders hope it will lure their loved ones back from the mainland.
