| Plot Summary of Night Storm |
"The main male character loses his wife in childbirth, leaves England with his baby daughter, and travels the world with her in his ship. He comes to Baltimore expecting to find a man running a shipyard, but it turns out to be a girl, the main female character (the daughter of the man who used to run the shipyard but was too ill).
The main male character likes a challenge, so he seduces the main female character, and she is very willing after that. They get married. They race each other on their boats toward Nassau, but get caught up in a hurricane where the main male character loses his memory (and gets it back toward the end of the book). The main bone of contention between them is that the main male character wants his wife to act more like a lady (including quitting dressing up in men's clothing, and to give up her shipyard), but she feels like she'd die if she did. In the end, the main male character realizes he's being a domestic tyrant and tries his best not to be that bad anymore. There's a compromise at the end of the book."
