| Plot Summary of Utopia |
"To many of us, the idea of an amusement park the size of a small town, using state of the art holographic technology is intriguing. However, in Utopia, the world's greatest amusement park, things are going horribly wrong.
A freak accident prompts the Park director to call in the programmer of the AI that controls most of the park's animatronics. He happens to be a former flame of hers, and this plays into his reasons for agreeing to her request. Bringing his daughter with him for what he expects to be a weekend trip, nothing more, Dr. Warne arrives to find that they want him to deactivate the system that he wrote to control all their robots. But things start getting hairy from there.
A terrorist, working for a rouge government, wants to steal the source code for 'The Crucible', Utopia's proprietary holographic engine. The reasons for this are never given in detail, but possibilities include counterfeiting, military uses, and so on. This man, never referred to by name, has orchestrated a series of accidents waiting to happen in the park, during a normal day, while crowds enjoy the rides and attractions. Unbeknownst to them, the park is a time bomb, waiting to go off.
Utopia is a thrilling read, a page turner form start to finish. "
