| Plot Summary of Enforcer |
"Everybody knows the Enforcer; he is the fan favorite for a few minutes of every game. He gets all the cheers when the spotlight is on him and gets no mention when the game is over. It takes a special breed to take on this job and that's what the book entitled Enforcer by Valerie Wood is all about.
Cole Bowman is the Enforcer and he lives life on the edge. He has a lot of professional pressure to keep his job and he has a hectic personal life that is spiraling out of control.
His coach Al Farrell is a “Bobby Knight-esque” personality who usually pushes his players too far. All he cares about is winning and making the playoffs.
The Rockets is the name of the team and they have a lot of battles happening on the ice and in the locker room.
This book may be fiction but the story is amazing. The author makes sure that every encounter on the ice and behind closed doors is explained in pain-staking detail. The hockey jargon is perfect and the author's knowledge of the sport is both impressive and appreciated by this reviewer.
