| Plot Summary of Rules of Surrender |
"Adorna, Vicountess Ruskin, has hired the services of one Miss Charlotte Dalrumple, of the newly opened Distinguished Academy of Governesses. However, Charlotte gets the surprise of her life when she discovers that she would have to tutor three pupils in the art of social skills. The first two are the countesses' young grandchildren, and the third is their father, Lord Wynter.
As a young man, Wynter ran away from home and boarded a ship, was sold as a slave and became a merchant in one of the tribes of the nomadic deserts, which will explain his uncivilized behavior. When a rival tribe threatened him, the recently widowed Wynter took his children and sailed back to England.
Not one to buckle down, the very proper Charlotte took up the challenge of teaching Wynter and his children English manners in preparation for a visit by the Sereminian royal family. The ruggedly handsome lord took it upon himself to teach the prim governess the ways of love.
