"Lottie came to her father's home in France longing for her beloved English countryside. Estranged from the boy she had always adored, she was soon to be swept away by the glitter of Louis XV's Paris. Years go by and Lottie is still in France. Lottie finds new love in a man who will betray everthing and everyone for his great craving for liberty. An old love also appears, his mission in France enigmatic, his motives veiled. Lottie would know joy and treachery, grief and triumph in a time when the fates of those she loved be thrown in most dire jeopardy."
