| Plot Summary of Germaine Greer: Untamed Shrew |
"The author, an Australian journalist, presents a life of the celebrated author of The Female Eunuch. Greer, whose activities ranged from a three-week marriage, numerous affairs and several illegal abortions, to acting at Cambridge with future Monty Pythons and eventual superstardom as a feminist spokesperson, is shown to be alternately brassy and timid; intimidating to men in general and clingy with the ones upon whom her affections fasten; obsessed with her absent father and extremely negative toward her mother. The book dwells mostly on her life in the 1950s and 1960s, and skimps on more recent decades and writings by Greer, but gives some sense of where this force of nature came from."
David Loftus, Resident Scholar
