Love Spell, Jan 2004
ISBN: 0505525534
Morgue Dr. Rachel Garrett is coming down with the flu when the corpse of Etienne Argeneau is brought in for her to examine. The big man was shot, but soon gets up as bullets cannot kill a vampire. Rachel assumes that her fever is making her delirious.
A few days later, Etienne returns dead again. This time when he recovers, his assailant is there too as he followed behind the transported “corpse” to the morgue. Etienne, who feels he owes Rachel, will do anything to keep her safe from the evil that has assaulted him. Besides which she has somehow gotten inside his blood. He wonders if he should convert her as his eternal mate even though he knows vampires have only one chance to get the transformation right However, before he can decide to end three centuries of bachelorhood, the vile foe takes the choice out of his hands as Rachel is under assault.
