| Plot Summary of Yankee Earl |

The Honorable Miss Rachel Fairchild is horrified to learn that a colonial nobody is the new Earl of Falconridge. She wonders how this Jason Beaumont from America will know the proper deportment of an English aristocrat when he was living in some barbaric land. To make matters worse for the athletic Rachel, her father expects her to marry this “American nobody”.
From the moment they meet with Rachel lying in mud staring up at Jason, sparks fly, not all positive. In fact more are negative as Rachel makes it clear how she classifies this intruder. Jason sees Rachel as probably not worth the trouble, but taming this shrew sounds so sweet. As they fall in love encouraged by their families, neither he nor Rachel ever expected that she would tame him.
YANKEE EARL is an exciting historical romance that the audience will enjoy due to the intelligent acerbic exchanges (perhaps barbs might be more accurate) between the two lead protagonists. Though similar tales have been told, Shirl Henke's entry stands out due to the strong cast from the lead dueling duo to the meddling matchmakers from each respective family to the shocked Ton not sure how to react to the behavior of Jason and Rachel. This battle of the sexes is fun to observes as this is one time a tie is a win for both participants and the reader.
