"Julian Savage lives up to his name. The prince of the Carpathian people sent him to the United States to protect humans and Carpathians from vampires. This, he had done all his life, but now, a new threat is forming: a group of human vampire hunters who think Carpathians are also the undead. The prince has sent Julian to warn the mortal singer, Desari, and her troupe that they may be targets.
When Julian finds them, he discovers the musicians are Carpathians who escaped a similar attack centuries before. Only children at the time, they clung together to survive, and will not easily admit an outsider like Julian, even if he is one of their kind. But Julian is determined to save Desari, for he's attracted to her.
