| Plot Summary of Guardian Angel |
"When an elderly neighbour of V. I. Warshawski is taken to the hospital and another neighbour (a lawyer with the same firm as V. I.'s ex-husband) and his wife make themselves her guardian and have her five dogs destroyed, the private investigator is very angry, and quickly gets involved in the dispute. At the same time the detective is hired by her friend, Mr Contreras, to find his buddy who disappeared shortly after staying the night with him. Vic follows up the two cases and finds they are linked and a major investment scam is in place. An attempt on her life, which incidentally hurts a friend of hers, and the discovery of the murdered lodger convinces our protagonist she is onto something big. "
