| Plot Summary of The Iron Hand of Mars |
"Marcus Didus Falco is sent by Emperor Vespasian to Germania Liberia to present the legion of the Fourteenth Gemina a token of his regard - an iron hand of Mars. On the side Vespasian expects Falco to investigate rumours of the Fourteenth's insubordination and their new legate's corruption, find out what happened to the legate who was capured during the tribal uprising at Vetera (he was sent to the tribal prophetess in chains and was never heard from again), find the tribal chief and the prophetess in the jungles of Free Germany and convince them to cease war against Rome. Not to mention the fact that his high-class girlfriend Helena has disappeared, that Titus Caesar is eager to marry her and that the most disgusting offspring of his most obnoxious sister has landed up in the middle of Free Germany in order to mock her uncle Marcus.
In his mission Falco has at his side twenty raw, nervous army recruits, a centurion with a mysterious past, his girlfriend Helena's baby brother and a friendly dog named Tigris.
Does Falco succeed at his Herculean task? Does he find Helena? Does Titus find her first? Read the book to find out!"
