Plot Summary of The Duke's Wager
"Mistaken for a courtesan, orphaned and friendless Regina Berryman is pursued by two noblemen, who wager on who will win her favors. When the dissolute Duke of Torquay sets a trap for her to become his mistress, Regina turns to her late uncle's business partner, the Marquis of Bessacar,to save her. He offers her his protection, all the while plotting to make her his mistress. She is left with no choice but to flee them both."
