His sole mission in life is to kill all the witches who live in St. Louis especially Rowan Gant, a follower of Wicca. Rowan is a high profile witch who acts as a police consultant in cases involving the paranormal. Last year Eldon Porter, after successfully torturing and killing witches according to the methods used during the Inquisition, came within inches of murdering Rowan. The witch shot him and he was thought to have been killed but Rowan knows his enemy lives.

Two weeks ago the police found proof that Eldon is alive and they move Rowan and his wife into a safe house. To lure them out of hiding, Eldon tortures and kills one of the members of Rowan's coven. As Eldon expected, the good witch insists on being part of the investigation. Rowan's friend, Ben Storm of the Major Case Squad reluctantly agrees to let the Wicca follower serve as a consultant even when his new boss disagrees. When Eldon takes a potential coven member hostage, Rowan risks his life to try to save his fellow Wiccan practitioner.
