| Plot Summary of Conjure Wife |
"Norman Saylor is unconvinced by his wife, Tansy, that her secret conjurings are consistent with their small-town college environment, and that his success to date, has not been entirely due to his endeavours. At first, as Norman had insisted, nothing seems to change, but as Tansy had hitherto believed the Saylors fall prey to supernatural powers. First of all, Norman's moral conduct is questioned by some of his colleagues in an attempt to discredit him, after which the family cat, Totem, is brutally killed. Even so Norman, the unbeliever, ignores the get-out-of-town advice. But Norman is forced to reconsider, and embarks on an accelerated sorcerer's apprenticeship."
