Plot Summary of Black Dahlia Avenger
"Steve Hodel is a retired Los Angeles Police Detective working as a private investigator. When his father, a noted surgeon in Hollywood and a businessman in Asia, died in 1999, Hodel found pictures and evidence in his father's effects that led him to believe that his father was a suspect in the infamous Black Dahlia murder in 1947.

Hodel iniated an investigation and found more circumstantial evidence that his father did indeed commit the murder and other similar homicides in the forties. In this period of time his father was involved with an abortion ring which was making payoffs to the police. Abortion at that time was a serious felony investigated by Homicide detectives, but LAPD officers were corrupted by a group of physicians involved in illegal abortions."

Glenn Souza, Resident Scholar

"A son discovers that his father is a monster, a depraved serial killer, who betrays the family and society's sense of safety and evades justice for his crimes because of rampant corruption in the LAPD of the 1930s-1950s. Mr. Hodel, a former LAPD Homicide investigator, is given his father's treasured, pocket-sized photo album and discovers startling pictures that whets his curiosity. Most disturbingly, the author learns that his childhood home is the actual scene of sex orgies, rapes, torture and the murder of beautiful young women. "
J. D.Nelson, Resident Scholar

"This is the true story of the author's investigation into the murder of Elizabeth Short (aka, Black Dahlia), as well as other well publicized murders of woman in the Los Angeles area during the 1940s, and the stunning realization the murderer is his own father. The book further lays out in well-documented detail the incrediable cover up by the Los Angeles Police Department of the fact that they knew who the killer was almost from the beginning!"
Martin P Stockdale, Resident Scholar
