is still youthful, beautiful and artistic at 33,
and still attracts many admirers, but she is
haunted by her former husband. She is happy
for now to enjoy only the company of her black French
bulldog, Flosette. She wants to start seriously
writing again, for when she was married, she was
a writer of some renowned. But it is not possible while she
works in the music hall, and she must forsake this
bourgeois ambition. A rich man named Max begins
to court Renee, but as soon as Renee is on the road
traveling in a tedious music hall she realizes how
strong she is by herself. And her engagement to Max
is broken off without a regret.
