| Plot Summary of Shadow and The Star |
"Samuel Gerard is a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. He eventually becomes a wealthy gentleman and skilled fighter, but he denies the sexual side of himself. A prim London shopgirl, Leda Etoile, fascinates Samuel emotionally, mentally, and sexually, and he enlists her help in his secret fight against child prostitution in London. Eventually he hires her as his secretary, and is increasingly torn between his chaste love for the daughter of the family who took him in and the true, complete, mature love he feels for Leda. As they grow closer, they realize that their future is together once they face and conquer his past."
