London Book Summary and Study Guide

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of London

Edward Rutherford writes big books but you still want to read them in one sitting. I read Sarum before I read London and I think I enjoyed it more because of its uniqueness. London follows the same pattern with an introduction to the area before people arrived then a fictional story about the people from Celts to Romans to Saxons to Normans. It is like a book of novels each telling a different tale the characters joined together generation after generation by ancestry and this town they live in. There are wicked people, there are good people, there are rags to riches stories and riches to rags. Some people get a raw deal out of life, some find love and some live as if there is no tomorrow. The story ends in the twentieth century with the second world war and even after eight hundred pages you still want more.
