"Paige runs away from home at 18, after guilt over an abortion that she kept a secret. She meets Nicholas Prescott, her future cardiac surgeon husband, who has no time for her. When Paige becomes pregnant, and tries to cope with the newborn baby at home by herself most of the time, she eventually cracks up and leaves. "
