| Plot Summary of Heart Block |
" Trying to escape a painful past, the introverted cardiac surgeon Dr. Lisa Horvath arrives at the secluded Pine Hill Memorial Hospital. Her boss is the disfigured and chauvinistic Dr. John Hunsicker, Pine Hill's Chief of Surgery. Within days of Lisa's arrival, several cardiac bypass patients die from mysterious causes. Careful examination reveals that these patients suffered from complete and fatal heart block. When two more patients die suddenly despite uncomplicated surgery and excellent post-operative care, Lisa begins to suspect the worst. She wonders who would want to harm innocent patients...and why.
An injection found at the scene of the crime leads Lisa and John to believe that the deaths are no accident. When a close colleague of John's is violently murdered, the unlikely pair finds themselves running for their lives in search of the truth only to find the pathway obscured by past betrayals and hidden enemies. Both intensely private, Lisa and John struggle to fight their own problems while they investigate the murders and the possible motives behind them.
