| Plot Summary of Dolores Claiborne |
"On a hot July day in 1963,while a total eclipse of the sun darkened the skies over the central portion of the state of Maine, Dolores Claiborne's drunkard, abusive husband mysteriously plunged into a well and was killed. The authorities and everyone else on Little Tall Island thought Dolores had killed the man but no charges were ever brought. Then, thirty years later, Dolores is once again suspected of involvement in the death of a rich woman for whom she worked. When she realizes that she must explain things this time, Dolores confesses to some dark and horrible acts. Acts which are normally inexcusable, but which just may be justified this time. A dark and terrible tale of violence, abuse and incest. A tale of just how far a woman will go to protect the things she loves."
