| Plot Summary of My First Cow |
"A unique book of short stories, written by a Canadian country artist about growing up on a ranch in the Canadian Prairies and developing from a child into a man. Stories include Proctor's Pig about the young man's realization that one of his heroes makes moonshine and a hilarious chase of a 300 pound pig through the small town. Another is a month in a young man's life during the Canada Russia 72 Hockey series and the realization that life does not always turn out as we expect. That the main character is just learning to think, and perhaps be more sensitive than a child is one of the book's themes and charms - a lesson in how to grow up and be a regular guy. "
