| Plot Summary of Flanagan's Run |
"In early 20th century America, a slightly shady entrepreneur stages a coast-to-coast footrace that encompasses all climates, conditions and obstacles. Very interesting characters from around the world take up the challenge, and the race builds to a climax in which at least some of the sympathetic racers will have to lose--or will they?
McNab, clearly a running fan, has done his homework well, and has assembled a lovable bunch of characters for his sprawling tale. This book wasn't extremely well marketed, and may have missed some on its initial run, but is without question worth the time and the effort to track it down. Go to your local library and find a copy--for those who are tired of "important" and "serious" books, this is an intelligent and unexpected tonic."
