|Plot Summary of Rembrandt's Whore|
|"Rembrandt's Whore by Sylvie Matton (198 pages)
In this book, we get a feel for the Dutch master artist Rembrandt's life through the eyes of his lady (whore) Hendrickje Stoffels. The story starts with Hendrickje joining the Rembrandt household as a servant (after the master's wife has died) and the book follows her life.
More than an art book, this book is a great look at the Dutch way of life in intricate detail around the 1650's, with a good deal of focus on the then-prevalant Plague. All in all, the book is an excellently portrayed historical biography. -- Ram Prasad
