| Plot Summary of One Fine Day the Rabbi Bought a Cross |
"
Rabbi David Small is an unassuming hero in the murder mystery genre. In "One Fine Day The Rabbi Bought a Cross," Harry Kemelman once more entertains his fans with a riveting storyline in typical fashion. In this episode, the Rabbi is in Israel, hoping to have a pleasure trip to the Holy Land without interruption. Alas, Jordan, the son of his good friends the Goodmans, has been charged with murder. Thankfully, Rabbi Small is on hand to investigate. Jordan had embraced some controversial fundamentalist religious beliefs and this has gotten him into serious trouble. Kemelman is right at home here as he brings to fore great Talmudic logic (for which he's known) and American common sense. This series began in the Sixties with "Friday the Rabbi Slept Late," progressing through the days of the week and beyond. Clever and insightful, this series is not only timely but pertinent.
