Plot Summary of Belle and the Beau
"Belle is a sixteen-year-old slave in Kentucky who escapes to freedom in Michigan on the Underground Railroad. She is seperated from her father and is on her own when she is found by a brother and sister, Daniel and Josephine Best. The Best family is a free black family that helps slaves escape. Belle falls in love with Daniel, who is handsome and smart, but he is engaged to marry another girl, who he may not even love."
