| Plot Summary of Jezebel and the Egghead |
"Quirky, spunky, thirty-six-year-old Natty Devington is about to discover that falling in love with your sister's hunky fiancé can make a girl's life just a bit complicated.
Having defended her now infamous Ph.D. dissertation on (of all things) the historic, literary, and cultural significance of romance novels, Natty turns her back on her family's considerable fortune to strike out on her own. As co-owner of a college-town bookstore dealing solely in romance novels--with a little fortune telling on the side--Natty's life is full and satisfying.
Since the reading, much less "hawking" of those "cheap, tawdry bodice rippers" is held in contempt by Natty's conservative parents, sister, and their blue-blooded social circle, Natty becomes a social outcast. That suits her just fine. But when Natty meets Professor Arch McKay, her stuffy sister's gorgeous fiancé, their mutual attraction is electrifying and her world is turned upside down.
Hilarious complications set in when a pair of aging hippies and Natty's tarot-card-reading psychic dog (yup, you read it right) get into the act.
