Plot Summary of The Abduction of Julia
"English Lord Alec Maclean must marry before the stroke of midnight or lose a fortune. He kidnaps the woman he has been "willed" to marry, and abducts the wrong woman! - Julia Frant, a feisty American who has loved him from afar for years. Together, they must find a way to marry and live "scandal-free" or the fortune will be lost to Alec's scheming cousin."
Rachelle Wadsworth, Resident Scholar

"    Alec MacLean, who must marry a daughter of the former Earl of Covington, attempts to abduct and elope with Therese Frant. But instead he ends up with the Frant Dragon, Therese's companion, Julia Frant. Julia is the dowdy cousin of Therese, but she too was once the daughter of the Earl of Covington, and since she has secretly desired Alec since she met him, she offers to marry him in Therese's place. Alec finds out Therese was working with his cousin, Nick, who was trying to thwart Alec from inheriting so Nick could.
In order to inherit, Alec must remain scandal free for at least one year, which may become difficult with Julia's passion for charity work for wayward women. When Nick meets Julia, after she has blossomed from a dowdy spinster into a delectable woman, he finds himself wanting her, but wanting the inheritance even more. Nick discovers Julia's charity work and uses it to create scandal, which opens a rift between Alec and Julia. Alec, who believes Julia is in love with someone else, openly shows his anger and fights her attempts to seduce him into her bed. Alec and Julia must fight Nick's machinations and Therese's anger in order to settle into a life of love and marriage."
