| Plot Summary of Thunder on the Plains |

"Colt Travis is hired as a scout for the Landers family in their trip across the west for the building of the railroad. Fifteen year old Sunny Landers and Colt are immediately drawn to each other, but their social differences keep them from their true feelings. When the trip is over, they go their seperate ways. Years later they reunite off an on, but Sunny's older brother, concerned with reputation, puts a stop to them being together. However, this story, spanning 12 years, shows how love overcomes all obstacles. "

"Sunny Landers is a rich daddy's girl in the Civil War erra. Trying to follow her father's dream of building a transcontinental railroad that would join the East with the West. She meets a half Cherokee, but raised by whites, Colt Travis who was hired by her father to scout into the Western territories where they were to build the railroad and is smitten with him although she is too young to know about love and relationships. They go their separate ways after the trip.
As time goes on Sunny realizes that she loves Colt but because of their different lives and financial status and the fact that he is half Cherokee she realizes they can't be together. Colt also realizes her love for Sunny but also believes they could never be together.
