| Plot Summary of Treasure Island |
"Treasure Island is the ultimate adventure story for a young boy. To leave home and sail the seas as a man in search of treasure is the dream of many a child."
Bruce A. Humphrey, Resident Scholar

"When a pirate comes to young Jim Hawkin's home, which is also an inn, with the warning, "Keep your weather-eye open for a seafaring man with one leg," Jim watches out for him. But then the pirate has a stroke and dies and Jim finds the oilskin packet with a treasure map inside. After showing this map to Dr. Livesey and Squire Trelawny, they decide to go to the island in search of the treasure. They knew the old pirate's ex-comrads would be looking out for it, too, but they had no idea the crew they would recruit for their ship were those same people. Worse yet, that,"seafaring man with one leg," is aboard too, posing as the ship's cook. "
Danielle, Resident Scholar
