Plot Summary of Get Out of My Mind
"In 1950, two aliens whom have been sent to spy on the planet Earth, secretly ordered by Copolla, the leader of the United Council of Developing Worlds, decide to never go back to the Planet Zire and spend the rest of their lives on this planet. They separate knowing that they must never see each other again and begin their new lives amongst the humans in the hope of finding happiness. They meet two Earth women, marry, and have one child each. Less than seventeen years later, the two aliens succumb to a mysterious infection and die; leaving their children to what fate may have in store for them.
The United Council of Developing Worlds, or commonly referred to as the Council, was formed out of the galactic ravages of war and is based upon the charter to guide planets along in their development to ensure their peaceful coexistence in the galaxy, thereby alleviating the need for violence through aggression and expansion. However the Leader of the Council, Copolla, has his own ideas for the organization. His last attempt with Earth resulted in Adolf Hitler, the placement of alien agents on the planet, and the hidden fact of the production of hybrid human and alien offspring, both strictly forbidden by Council law.
Now, almost sixty years later, Copolla has surprisingly dictated that Earth must now have two representatives on the Council and has chosen them personally, Greg Carlson and Sarah Ferguson. He sends his most successful initial contact agent and closest rival, Leumas, to indoctrinate them. Unbeknownst to Leumas, he is an innocent partner of the plot Copolla has devised to destroy the humans and ensure Leumas' failure that will ultimately carry the sentence of Council servitude on Earth for a long time. With Leumas out of the way, Copolla will begin his transition of the peaceful organization to one of conquest and supreme domination.
During the process of indoctrination, Greg and Sarah, who are actually the alien and human hybrid offspring of Copolla agents' earlier failure with Earth in the 1950's, react to the mind stimulation of indoctrination and begin to develop their own psychic and telepathic capabilities. Appalled at the Council's interference with the normal developmental process of their planet, Greg and Sarah refuse to take part in any of the their actions. They have their memories erased and returned to Earth under the guise of the medical ineptitude of the Earth facilities that had pronounced them dead earlier in order for their disappearance to not be noticed.
Leumas is sent to Earth to pave the path for Earth for future joining of the Council if he can get the planet headed in the right direction. He surmises that the fastest method would be achieved through the political system on the planet and sets out to form a new party that will lean heavily toward the exploration of space.
Lacking their memories of the alien abduction, Greg and Sarah go on with their separate lives until their thoughts are returned by a method they devised in the event they perceived alien interference with Earth again. They discover that Leumas has somehow become the top advisor to the leading candidate for the office of the President of the United States. They confront Leumas and promise to give him valuable information they have obtained from one of Copolla's agents that he wants very badly. In exchange, he must leave Earth and their inhabitants to their own future.
Leumas returns to Zire with information that clearly incriminates Copolla. But rather then be ousted, Copolla destroys the Hall of the Council, its members and himself, potentially throwing the Galaxy into similar turmoil that almost destroyed them centuries ago. Leumas devises a plan to revive the Council but the main premise must consist of it being located on Earth, as a symbol of its mission for the future and that the leaders be totally unbiased and unaffected by any possible ties to existing member planets.
Leumas selects Greg and Sarah for this position because of their unique powers and their neutral position. They accept under the guise that a controlled release of technology for Earth will help its countries join together and pursue their future in the Galaxy with other races. However for the interim it is decided that the existence of the United Council for Developing Worlds be kept secret until the populace possesses the understanding and knowledge of its new role so as to not create panic or alien hysteria within the populace.
At their first meeting with the newly formed Council of Earth, Greg and Sarah accept their roles and pledge their allegiance to the cause and to each other. Greg's mental power continues to grow as he undergoes visions of what the future holds for Earth, the rest of the galaxy, and for Sarah and himself.
