"David Baldacci has come out with another surefire winner, and this is his best book amongst all I have read so far.
It is a crime thriller full of relentless action, fast paced drama, nail biting suspense and awesome thrills. The book reads like a screenplay, one can visualise and feel the sharply etched, strong characters that he has created, especially the devilish, cold-blooded, clever, ingenious villain.
Lu Ann Tyler, 20, is a poor orphan working hard to make a living and bring up her 8 month old illegitimate daughter. A mysterious trickster Jackson who offers a deal that can't be refused approaches her. Multi-million dollar lottery rigged to be won, she can take a part of it and get out of the country.
Lu Ann while thinking about the offer gets trapped into a situation where her boyfriend has been killed and the killer attacks her too. In self-defence Lu Ann hits him hard and looks like she has killed him. Now she is on the run. In sheer desperation she accepts Jackson's offer, wins the lottery and disappears from U.S.
After 10 years of travelling all over the world with a new identity as a rich heiress, she is sick and tired of her life. She decides to come back to U.S and risks to break her promise of not ever coming back.
Jackson is after her, so are many others including FBI, IRS, Police, Media, and some more, she is on the run again, so many resourceful, strong persons as well as organisations are after her. Lu Ann is no less clever. She is intelligent, sharp, strong, brave and determined. How she manages to avenge herself and gets rid of all the problems and settles down to a new life with new found love is all the interesting story.
This is a book that will keep you up late and reading long past the bedtime.
