| Plot Summary of Savage Night |
"SAVAGE NIGHT is a book written by Jim Thompson in 1953.
Carl Bigelow is asked by the N.Y. mob boss to eliminate Jake Winroy, who must testify in an important trial, without making it look like a hit. So Carl, dealing with his T.B. and his student look, arrives in Peardale and takes a room in Winroy's guest house. He seduces Jake's wife, Fay, a beautiful ex-night club singer who soon understands Carl's intentions. But as the hit must not take place before several weeks, Carl accepts the offer of Kendall, another guest, and is now working at the local bakery between classes at the town's free university. Jake falls also in love with Ruth, the young maid, who suffers like him from a severe body disability.
Ultra noir, another great Thompson book.
