| Plot Summary of Across Five Aprils |
"Over the course of 5 Aprils, Jethro keeps the family farm going while his brothers and friends go off to fight in the Civil War. He grows up in the process and deals with the effects of the war on himself and his family. Issues of truth, honesty, loyalty, desertion, mercy, bravery, and love are covered in the telling of the story. This is a fictional personalized account of the war and gives great information about the war and politics of the 1860's. "
