Plot Summary of Radio Free Albemuth
"A posthumously published companion volume to Dick's famous VALIS trilogy (VALIS, The Divine Invasion, and The Transmigration of Timothy Archer), Radio Free Albemuth condenses in one volume Dick's Gnostic-inspired themes regarding an alien power trying desperately to save humanity from its enslavement to bogus values as represented by the U.S.'s barely democratically elected president Ferris F. Fremont. The progtagonist starts out as a humble clerk at a San Francisco record store, but wind up being more indeed as he realizes that his dreams and waking dreams are in fact attempts by a benign alien power to contact him and enlist him in the cause to redeem humanity and save it from totalitarianism, false gods and other horrors. I cannot recommend this book enough.
