| Plot Summary of Bad Boy |
"BAD BOY is the first part of Jim Thompson's autobiography he wrote in 1953.
This is the story of Jim Thompson's childhood in Oklahoma and Texas. The family follows Jim's father who was a lawyer, a politician and a businessman active in the oil business at a stretch. Jim, always moving, never had the time to make friends at school. Jim learned to smoke with his grandfather and took a job as a bellboy in a grand hotel. A few months later, due to his drinking habit, he undergoes a crisis and must rest, between life and death, in bed. Then, he decides to go west and finally takes a job as a night watcher of pipeline fields. He finally comes back home and gets involved in the alcohol traffic in the middle of the prohibition. The first part of the autobiography ends with Jim Thompson leaving town with his mother and his little brother for the university of nebraska."
