Plot Summary of All That Remains
"Dr. Kay Scarpetta already has eight dead bodies with no apparent cause of death. In the beginning of the book, there are two more added to that total. The bodies of couples are found several months after they have been murdered; their remains are partially skeletonized. At the scenes where the bodies are recovered, the crime scene cops find a jack of hearts."
Tracy Broemmer, Resident Scholar

"Young lovers are ending up dead, found partially skeletonized in remote woodland areas with no apparent cause of death. Chief Medical Examiner Kay Scarpetta is baffled, and she fears the "Couple Killer" will strike again. The most recent victim was the daughter of a powerful political drug activist, and the search for the killer intensifies. Kay soon learns that the government is withholding evidence, and the only thing more shocking is why they've done so: they fear the sociopath stalking young couples is one of their own..."
LaPierre, Resident Scholar

"Young lovers are being targeted and murdered. Chief Medical Examiner Kay Scarpetta is unable to find cause of death in the first four couples because their skeletal remains rendered no clues.   Unfortunately another couple turns up missing and there is a chance to finally get some answers but Kay and her partner in crime fighting, Detective Marino, encounter the run around from the FBI. Kay uncovers the aweful fact that the victims' bodies have been tampered with before her initial examination. "
Tracey Ray, Resident Scholar
