This book, by far, is the best of the X-wing series, and perhaps one of the best in the expanded Star Wars Universe. Aaron Allston expertly combines many elements--including romance, action, mystery, and even humor--into one exciting page-turner featuring General Wedge Antilles and his hand-picked Red Flight (Tycho Celchu, Wes Janson, and Hobbie Klivian) on a mission to the planet Adumar. This book is different than the other X-wing books in some ways; for example, Wedge must try to learn diplomacy and politics in time to claim Adumar for the New Republic--and make sure they are prepared for the Empire's retaliation!
I would strongly recommend this book to any Star Wars fan who is not afraid to try something new, and if you haven't read the rest of the series, check that out too!

| Plot Summary of Starfighters of Aduman - Star Wars, X-Wing 9 |
"General Wedge Antilles is sent on a diplomatic mission to the world of Adumar, which inhabitants hold pilots in the highest esteem. There, he finds his mission imperiled almost from the start, and events lead to a world-wide war. This is a wonderful and hilarious Star Wars book, extremely readable."

"The New Republic discovers a new planet--Adumar--a planet that, if gained, could get the New Republic a priceless supply of proton torpedoes. A diplomatic envoy must be sent--but the Adumarians will accept only pilots, not politicians. So, Wedge Antilles, along with his Red Flight (Tycho Celchu, Wes Janson, and Hobbie Klivian), set off to play diplomat and get Adumar for the New Republic. But, as they soon discover, Adumar is not what they have been told--in fact, the supposed "world government" is in charge of only one country. Wedge must bring Adumar together and convince them to join the New Republic--and if he fails, the Imperials just might get the planet for themselves."

" In "Starfighters of Adumar," General Wedge Antilles is sent to the newly discovered planet of Adumar to help negotiate its entrance into the New Republic. Upon landing planet-side, Antilles discovers that his primary brief at the onset of the mission does not agree entirely with what he sees. He eventually finds out the truth and is betrayed by his own diplomat. The betrayal leads a war between the nations of Adumar for control of the planet, and of course a battle with the Empire for th world's industrial strength in starfighter battle weapons."
