After the dance, Jamie asks Landon to participate in the school's play The Christmas Angel. The Christmas Angel is The Christmas Carol but Hegbert changed the script to have Angel's instead of ghosts. At first Landon is not thrilled at first but reluctantly agrees to the production. During the production and his daily walks home with Jamie he gets to know her. One of the things he learns more about Jamie, such as how she is collecting money to go to the local orphanage. However, so far she only collected $55, but Landon promises her that he can ask a few more people to ask some more money for the orphanage. He succeeded in getting over $202 for the orphanage and they both go there to meet the children.

While at the orphanage Jamie tells Landon that she dreamed of getting married in a church full of people and have her father walk down the aisle. Landon believes that it is a strange dream but accepts it and enjoys his time with her. Opening night of The Christmas Angel he sees Jamie for the first time in full make up in Angel gear and that is when he realizes that he fell in love with Jamie. The next day he goes and ask Jamie out for New Years Eve. Her father first forbids it but reluctantly agrees to it. They have a wonderful date and Jamie goes visits his family on New Years Day.

A few weeks later Landon tells Jamie that he is in love with her and Jamie tries to deny it but says that she cannot love him because she is dying of leukemia. Landon is in shock but still press that he still is in love with Jamie. The following Sunday Hegbert informs the town that his daughter is dying and that she will be in the hospital. Jamie tells Landon that she wants to be at home. So Landon goes to his father and begs him to bring the hospital equipment to Hegbert's household. His father does and starts mending the gap between father and son. Then Landon sprints into action by having Jamie's dream to come true, walking down the aisle with her father, getting married to church full of people.

They exchanged vows and were married on that day. Jamie dies soon after but Landon still holds on to the ring and still is in love with Jamie after 56 years. He thanks her for everything.
Best part of story, including ending: I loved how this story touched me with the idea of forgiving and loving. I loved how it struck the core that love can last forever.

Best scene in story: The time when Landon sees Jamie dressed in The Christmas Angel's costume for the first time, it is here in the moment Landon finally sees what he was missing in his heart and finally sees Jamie's beauty from the inside out.

Opinion about the main character: I liked Landon's growth of being a teenager that is confused and could not forgive. Though with love and patience he learns how to forgive and grows.

In A WALK TO REMEMBER Sparks draws the reader in the town of Beaufort, NC to tell his story of young, but true love. An interesting sequence of events cause the popular Landon Carter to ask the misunderstood unpopular Jamie Sullivan to the Homecomming Dance which leads them into a suprising romance. Thier love continues to grow as they struggle with their own feelings, and the reality of disease. This book is wonderfully written and extremely emotional, it is a quintessential snapshot of what true love should be. It makes me cry each time I read it and it makes me yearn for a love this true and great!

A Walk to Remember is one of my favorite Nicholas Sparks books. The two main characters, Jamie and Landon fit the cliche' of opposites attract. Landon has to overcome his fear of hanging out with the "outcast", and then has to deal with his feelings once he realizes he has them. Then, Sparks adds a completely unexpected (at least I didn't see it coming) twist. What will they do? Their love survives what a lot of long-time marriages can't! This book keeps you interested until the very end. I read this book in two days! I couldn't put it down!

It's a story about true love that was very unlikely to happen. She's poor and very religious, she doesn't care what anyone thinks, she's unpopular with the kids at school, but popular with the grownups in the community. He's popular with just about everyone, and he's rich. They end up falling in love, and then he finds out that she has cancer and ends up marrying her.

Landon Carter is a popular kid in school, Jamie Sullivan is a sensitive outcast who was raised by a southern baptist reverend, and against all odds they fall in love and fight to let their love overcome all, including Jamie's ongoing battle with leukemia. This book will leave you in tears and wanting more. Even though there will not be a sequel, I have the pleasure of knowing that I atleast had the opportunity to read this one. It's everything that love should be and I wish I had that in my life.

This book was absolutley amazing. It kept me on the edge of my seat. It was a story of how strong teen love can truly be and the love conquers all. Landon and Jamie come from different backgrounds and had nothing to do with each other until an incident where Landon needed a date. From getting to know each other in new ways, Landon learns what life is really about. It is only when Jamie becomes very weak and ill that Landon learns miracles can happen.

Yet another great book by Sparks. If you want to cry, read this book. If you read this book and don't cry, go buy a heart! This is a close second to "The Notebook". An incredible love story like no other. Sparks brings you into the lives of Landon & Jamie and has you routing them on with every turn of the page. If you are a Nicolas Sparks fan, or are looking to become one, this is a great book to start with.
