| 1. Favorite book and why? |
This is a hard question to answer. All of David Weber's work is brilliant, but a few do stand out. The Honor of the Queen (book2 of Honor Harrington series) is great, but I think Honor Among Enemies just beats it.

| 2. Least favorite book and why? |
Worlds of Honor should have been great but wasn't. I just do not like short stories of anthologies. Sorry David.
|
| 3. Favorite scene in favorite book and why? |
In The Honor of the Queen, Honor Harrington has been invited to dinner by a head of state (Protector benjamin of Grayson) and is in the middle of the main course when an attempted coup and assasination goes down. Honor swings into action and destroys the assasins (brutally and with style). Honor is an expert in coup de vitesse (a martial art) and kicks major butt, but she is badly wounded when she is shot in the face. Weber's abilities shine forth in the way he describes Honor's fight, and his style heightens the tension. A memorable scene--i loved it.

| 4. Favorite character and why? |
Honor Harrington. She is courageous and indomnitable, but she can be hurt. She is not super woman, but is instead what we all should aspire to be.
|
| 5. Which character do you identify most with and why? |
I can't think of one that leaps out as the most identifiable, but i have great sympathy with Vaijon (a knight of Tomanak in The War God's Own) as he struggles to understand his God's choice of champion. Bassel is a Hradani, a race generally held to be evil monsters without a shred of honour to their name. What is worse, Bassel is huge and deadly with his blade--an affront to Vaijon who is also a mster with his sword. Vaijon is the son of a powerful lord, but has dedicated himself to Tomanek. Bassel is a vagabond that walks around in clothes so close to being rags that Vaijon could not tell the differance, yet Tomanak chose Bassel to be champion and not Vaijon. Why?

| 6. If you could see a sequel to one of the author's books, which would it
be and what would it be about? |
Ashes of Victory was the last Honor Harrington book that Baen released. I want another one! I know this is unlikely to happen any time soon (David must be exhausted with writing Harrington novels) so I will nominate The War God's Own. Oath of Swords (book1) and The War God's Own (book2) were great fantasy. They were both enjoyable and easy to read... quick too!
|
| 7. What do you like about author's writing style? |
Weber has created believable worlds populated by believable characters--that is a given, but what I really like is the way he makes futuristic technology (that he invented) seem completely real and plausible. he does not swamp the reader with too much jargon, but what he does use is deftly explained within the story for the betterment of the work. Technology in Weber's books enhances the story without taking it over.
|
| 8. What are your favorite themes of this author? |
My favourite theme has to be lone commander against insumountable odds (Honour of The Queen)
My second could be Vagabond (and argumentative) Hradani is proposition by the war God (Tomanak) to be his chmpion.
|
| 9. What could be most improved about this authors books? |
I want them faster! One a year is not quick enough for me.

I am 35 years old and live in a small village in the south of England. I have been writing my own novels (sci-fi and fantasy) for a number of years, but I earn most of my pay in heavy engineering. See samples of my books at: http://www.waipara.com
