| 1. Favorite book and why? |
The Death of Grass - it is the most convincing of all John Christopher's global disaster speculative fiction. In addition to this it is written with considerable pace, plausibility and provokes a great deal of thought about the nature of mankind. The collapse of society is shocking in its speed.
|
| 2. Least favorite book and why? |
The Little People - it felt very dated and the subject matter left a little to be desired.
|
| 3. Favorite scene in favorite book and why? |
The desciption of Paris in The White Mountains - a fantastically realised account of a fallen civilisation.
|
| 4. Favorite character and why? |
The lead character in The Death of Grass, because he is single minded in a way no-one else can be in order to lead his group to his brother in Yorkshire. He is a truly natural leader.
|
| 5. Which character do you identify most with and why? |
Will in the Tripods. He is often thoughtless and self-centred although is a good person at heart.
|
| 6. If you could see a sequel to one of the author's books, which would it
be and what would it be about? |
Empty World - I would just like to see what happens to the protagonists as they progress through their lives and how they cope with the world they face.
|
| 7. What do you like about author's writing style? |
He is an excellent story teller and, like John Wyndham and Nevil Shute, always makes you believe in the characters as well as the situation.
|
| 8. What are your favorite themes of this author? |
The post apocalyptic genre.
|
| 9. What could be most improved about this authors books? |
Very little, I do enjoy his work for young adults more than those written for adults.
